First Update

Diamond Jubilee Quick Update.

Well here we go and thanks for a great response to the emails and leaflet drop

It generated a huge amount of enthusiastic response and all will be explained at our meeting, which has been arranged at the Village Hall Committee Room for Tuesday 24 January at 7.30pm.

However appreciating some cannot make it this is a quick summary of a few points:

Every household in the parish had a leaflet drop and I would like to pay particular thanks to Martin Gelston, who did the Springhill drop despite hardly being able to see through his moped helmet visor from the rain and Tony Bass who was ably assisted by his terriers – have a leaflet or they will bite your legs off!

  • Bank balance left from Golden Jubilee approx £20 so on to plan ‘B’.
  • New bank account will be opened in the next 14 days – with on line capability
  • Evening event probably a step too far so concentrate on the Street Party
  • Event timing now 1.00pm to 5.00pm – negotiable
  • Street Party Licence applied for.
  • Road closure to be applied for between Darley’s Close and Manor Gardens
  • Letter drop made to everyone within the closure area - No objections so far
  • Check with Bus Company – no buses
  • The Swan will support the event
  • Grendon Garage happy with the event
  • Pledges of support to pay Public Liability Insurance
  • Pledges of support to pay Bouncy Castle
  • Pledges of support to pay for music throughout the day,
  • Pledges of fund raising from Rickyard Grove.
  • Pledges of support from Parish Council to pay for memento for each household in the Parish
  • Approx 400 homes in the parish but some such as Lammas could get more?
  • FROGS on board with memento design
  • Scouts/Beavers researching feasibility of Rosettes
  • Offer for fund raising from others
  • Volunteers’ have come forward to help with the food
  • Volunteers’ have come forward to get their ‘hands dirty’ and make it happen
  • Volunteers’ have come forward to research children’s games from the 50’s
  • Pledges of support in printing and supplying banners
  • 300 m bunting FOC and we might get more
  • Kingswood seem to be going in with Wotton but we keep the invitation open
  • Edgecott are still to respond but have some enthusiastic activists (no names no pack drill Maggie!)
Jusqu'à la semaine prochaine!
